What The Fascism? A Déjà Coup
Thus was the malodorous ghost of communism ressurected in the most stupid way last night (Jan 8, 2023), and by the most stupid people with the most stupid of ideological beliefs. The ghouls of Jan 6, 2021 were also awoken last night in Brasilia, albeit in an equally pathetic manner.
Rule one: don't be stupid in public; rule two: don't spread your stupidity like marmite on toast.
Seriously though, life is not as complex as either a pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD), or a Roux-en-Y lateral pancreaticojejunostomy. Get up, do something productive, stuff your gob, take a good shit, go to bed, et al.
Bullshit is, unfortunately, like a religion - there are fools in Brazil who believe that there is a communist threat in the country. This is a phalanx of the far-right that lives and thrives in an alternate reality. They swallow fables faster than bukakke actresses from right wing news outlets, sans fact-checking.
Perhaps this is why religion is so ingrained in the human brain - we are programmed to be incited into outrage, retreat into our little ideological cocoons, and almost instinctively attack when that false sense of comfort is even remotely threatened.
Thus there was a group that believes that Ignacio Lula da Silva is a thieving communist, an oxymoron if ever there was one. Communism is at its basest the mass redistribution of wealth. It also is well known that Brazil uses an electronic voting system and with greater efficiency and a lower error rate than countries such as the USA. ¹'²
The Bolsonaristas are loons who were camping outside millitary bases trying to goad the millitary into overthrowing a fairly elected government, perhaps with a scant understanding of what a millitary dictatorship has historically looked like. Oddly, this height of obvious insanity has peaked with the greater proliferation of US-style evangelical christianity in Brazil.
This is a deeply right wing version of christianity that is, to its believers, the only right way. Of course, just like every religion in the history of man, it is the "only right way." Yes, indeed, given the origins of christianity as an Abrahamic faith, it does not exactly brook dissent.
First off, the original Christians, if one can still use that term, were the Catholics, and to a lesser extent, the Coptic churches of Egypt, and the Axumite church of Ethiopia. Christianity has evolved and adapted various customs and practices as its own to such an extent that pre council of Nicea christians wouldn't recognize modern-day christianity.
Now, clinging to religion and calling it "right" neglects the temporal nature of life. One cannot claim that a 1975 Ford Torino is safer for its occupants than, say, a 2022 Toyota Corolla. Vehicle development is just that - development. Similarly, ideas that seemed like fact prior to the scientific advances and knowledge that we possess today, and that run counter to logic, should be acknowledged to be fatally flawed - because they are.
An individual from a village in Eswatini who died in the 1970's would probably crawl back into their tomb if they saw the technological advancements of the world today. Once upon a time, it was widely thought that the universe had a "firmament" from which the earth would be watered. Today, we understand how climatic patterns function, heck, we can even forecast the weather, albeit with varying degrees of accuracy.
Still we have some who cling to the past, and would perhaps send it a 2 am "you up" text were it possible to do so. It is possible that these are the very individuals who will stalk their exes and plead drunkenness. Or shoot up their exes in a jealous rage, and then attempt to plead insanity when the hammer of consequences strikes them hard.

Most of these far-right groups fervently cling to inordinately stupid ideas like racial supremacy, along with rather dated and moronic views on immigration, women, and the role of men in family and society. They still exist in a white man's 1837, and they have roped in clueless nonwhite folk on the premise of border security, fighting corruption in politics, and a belief that their beliefs are "oppressed" by the left.
Basically, these greasy globs of mediocrity have carved out for themselves a giant safe-space while accusing liberals of the same in breathtaking display of cognitive dissonance. Indeed, these fools are ready to die for these utterly useless beliefs. They live by hate, for hate, with hate, and talk hate about hate. They are the very epitome of unreasonable hate.
Still, the fools at the federal square in Brasilia would do well to read about the Anos de Chumbo between 1968-78 by the millitary regime. They would do well to remember the institutionalisation of censorship when the Conselho Superior de Censura was created by the government of the day. And yet they will not, because to them the millitary is "strong" and they also have an irrational fear of communism.
Every passing day, it seems that humanity is trending further into the morass of stupid. Maybe there is hope in the fact that the Brazil coup attempt ended up looking pathetic, and cost the federal province's governor his office due to misguided complicity with the Bolsonaristas.
Maybe the new jailhouse inmates will get some reading time in prison, and, perhaps, they will catch up with the legacy of torture that the regime of Getúlio Vargas crafted in Brazil, along with his enforcer, Filinto Müller. Maybe, even then, this will be the Brazil that these misguided and misinformed morons will still desire for themselves and their descendants.
