Palestine
Israel has long implemented a policy of demolishing homes belonging to Palestinians accused of killing Israelis. This extends to the extended family of those accused. Basically, it is a cycle of revenge and deprivation. Anyone with a locum of thought can easily see what the Israeli regime is doing: it is a scorched earth policy on steroids. And still the fighting goes on unabated, albeit mostly away from the larger global stage.
Apartheid is a policy or system of discrimination on grounds of race. It can loosely apply to systematic segregation on gender and religious basis. Quite obviously, what the Israeli regime is carrying on with and in the Palestinian Territories is a form of apartheid.
Now, as with everything inane in 20th century history, colonialism played a massive role in the état de choses today. As with India and Pakistani, the British royally bent over and historically impaled the future generations of that area with a colossal religious-separation based dildo.
After the events of World War II, the UK found itself facing a Jewish guerrilla campaign over Jewish immigration restrictions, as well as continued conflict with the Arab community over immigration limit levels. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of Jewish Holocaust survivors and refugees sought a new life far from their destroyed communities in Europe. The British at the time were reeling from the now imminent loss of empire and decisions at home (in the UK) were shaped by public perceptions of events in foreign lands under British control.
Map of Israel and the occupied territories²
After a sequence of historical events, we have the map above today.
Now, Israel does have the right to exist as an independent state, that much is clear. In that respect, so does Palestine. Regardless of religious views and other semantics, both are states with an equal right to self-determination. What we have now is a carbon copy of the manifest destiny doctrine in pre-civil war United States, where Israel seeks to entirely occupy and annex the Palestinian Territories.
Such are the noxious undertones that make that region, which is the origin of the three Abrahamic faiths, probably the most volatile inhabited region of the planet.
