The Dire Dregs Of Days
"We are a blessed nation and people!"
Yes, there was an election, and Kenyans rushed to congratulate themselves in a manner akin to patting their dicks after an orgasm. The land is a blessed one, it has to be said: it is a land blessed with ignorance, irredeemably corrupt leeches, general political shithousery, drought, inflation, near-theocratic leadership with a touch of the corruptly macabre....it's a long list of blessings. It's a land where wealth simply disappears into the blessed pockets of a few, and, just like the "holy ghost," reappears in the pockets of the same well-heeled elite who are all seemingly acquainted with some fellow named "scratch."
High net worth folk tell tales of "rearing chicken" and "selling corn cobs by the roadside," and sell the capitalistic hope of success from "scratch."
As an aside, who the hell is this scratch? Can he scratch a few tickets to every scroungers wealth, maybe sate every "hustler's" hunger? Ah, the hustle culture, well-woven into the effluent that is political promises like a national sewer, to which millions flocked like a buzzing mob of musca domestica. With all that, the "hustler" presidente is in office, his mob still buzz about his "blessed" leadership, and, oh, it now looks like a fucking personality cult.
What was to be expected anyway?
As the less religious former colonizers gain wealth, Kenyans live in a land that seems to emphasize religion more than education, and the "big man" mentality over universal healthcare. Yes, it is a land where after a serious vehicular collision, or a follower a cardiac episode, the first thing, indeed, the bullshit that precedes medical intervention is the question, "do you have the money for this-and-that?"
Yeah, money, like someone in the grip of full cardiac arrest or a massive stroke, no matter how wealthy they may be, must consider saving some coins for medical intervention, just like the lord Jesus wanted. Kenya is so blessed that society lacks empathy.
Of course if the sarcasm is not obvious yet, one thing is: that religion is a poison that holds society back, and that politics in Africa is largely as toxic as a sewer next to a landfill.
You can either keep your "blessings" or seek to protect your wealth and health, because these blessings do not seem to lead to a friendly tax regime either.
Blessings? No, you're fucked and you know it.
