COVID-19

Let's face it, this probably was a preventable contagion, that is, if humanity were cloistered in isolated gatherings like the Sentinalese.  Yet humanity needs to move around and interact: we are a global village as we are constantly reminded. Supprime tuum stultiloquium! Yeah, maybe, with time, of course. Still, here we are in the grip of a conatagion. Some have acted rationally, others have decided to be even more radical with their misguided beliefs. Funny how no race is superior in their averting this virus - eh racists?

Moving on, as to whether it descended from a bat colony via the often macabre diets of the Chinese, or whether we're just batshit crazy, who knows. (Let us know if you do, seriously.) First, let's remember that this is a disease that seems to be spread by contact, airborne or otherwise, or as the lay hoi polloi are now learning, exposure. In the western world, there seems to be a free for all for toilet paper. It's almost like humanity in those parts realizes that they're completely full of doodoo. This has espoused all manner of jokes and memes, and is a apt reflection of our very worst impulses. One would assume that plumbers would have gone into overdrive, installing bidets in every home, and ensuring that idiots don't hoard toilet paper like it was food. Not smart, not smart at all.

Who should humanity turn to for guidance on this? Our leaders? What if they're utterly clueless and keep sprouting conspiracy theories, what then? Let's not panic and scurry around stores like a bad scene in a black Friday movie shot on a truck mounted camera by some dude named Josh. We're like roaches in the light, mindless and uncontrolled. The roaches can at least survive a nuclear disaster (probably a weak comaprison).

One thing we should get straight is that no religious entity is going to save us from whatever this is. We can pray all day if we so wish, but let's remember to get up once in a while to perform our ablutions. Stay clean, wash your hands, stay home - and be reasonable. Treatment will be found - probably a vaccine since this is a virus. Don't OD on antibiotics or old wives' remedies, they don't help. You can pray to whoever or whatever if you must, and if it sooothes your middling soul.

Let's be clean and decent, and remember, a contagion on humanity isn't the end of the world. The planet is fine with or without us.

Israel has long implemented a policy of demolishing homes belonging to Palestinians accused of killing Israelis. This extends to the extended family of those accused. Basically, it is a cycle of revenge and deprivation. Anyone with a locum of thought can easily see what the Israeli regime is doing: it is a scorched earth policy on steroids.
